    The simplicity and location.

Minor nitpicking - but the wood is aging.

  • Older travelers

I loved the history, decor and ambience. Extremely comfortable beds, excellent cuisine and warm, friendly staff. I would highly recommend your establishment.

Hair dryers were not provided in the room.

  • Older travelers

Location /servers ,staff were very good

  • Couple

Our room was superbly clean and welcoming. We loved the bath tub and fireplace. We also thoroughly enjoyed our continental breakfast and the proximity of the main street.

The only negative experience was during our second nights stay. We could not control the temperature of the room to make it cooler. We slept in 84 degree heat!!!! It was horrible. If that had happened on our first night without resolve we may have left. This is the only nwgative experience....everything else was amazing!

  • Older travelers

    It's location.

Small room. The inn is jaded, could do with freshening-up, including the gardens, which are a totally wasted facility. Food and wine too expensive. Though we'd reserved dinner, we had to eat in the breakfast "corridor", which was cold and totally lacking in atmosphere. They had too many locals booked in. Service was very poor, especially at breakfast. A half hour wait for a cold plate continental, as the single chef was too busy cooking for the hot breakfast "upgrade" customers, of which we counted two.Toilet roll ran out during the night, and no spares were provided. Bath/shower surface was not non-slip, and was therefore dangerous. Four other inns we stayed at were much better, at half the price.

  • Older travelers

We were treated extremely well - staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Had a very enjoyable stay!

  • Older travelers

Staying at the Charles Inn was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it highly. The staff was courteous and well experienced. We had dinner in the dining room and the food and service were absolutely incredible. Breakfast the following morning was excellent as well. Look forward to staying again.

The only minor problem was the noisy room air conditioner.(We were in room #9)

  • Older travelers

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room was well appointed and very clean. Really like the radio/CD/sound machine with the nature sounds! Good location on main street.

The bathroom was a bit cramped and awkward. Each guest room is unique so this isn't a problem in all the rooms.

  • Older travelers

The Inn is well located, on the main street, with easy access to all the inner City has to offer. We were especially taken with the restaurant facilities; there were several eating area options and all the ones we chose delivered excellent menus, service and presentation. This was a pleasant finding, because we had chosen the Inn for it’s location, rather than it's food.

The room, which was quite expensive, was small and quite difficult to navigate with all the clothes for several days of play-going and the heat, while we were there.

  • Couple

The accommodations were beautiful-clean and elegant. The staff at the Inn were very hospitable and friendly. The experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. We will definitely come back for a weekend getaway this year.

  • Older travelers

We originally booked our stay at one of the sister hotels but I have to say I was glad we were switched to Harbour House. The facility is new and very charming. The staff is exceptional. The rooms were wonderfully appointed all the way down to the soaps and rubber duck for the jacuzzi. The cookies in the lobby and the room were super. The fireplace was very romantic since it was chilly outside. The morning breakfast that was included was healthy and tasty. The location is nice it is a short walk to Queen street but is far enough away that you enjoy quiet and the sounds of the sailboats clattering about. We will be back.

The bed looked lovely the pillows were great and so was the comforter but the mattress was alittle hard.

  • Older travelers

Very friendly staff, and an excellent restaurant/wine list. The continental breakfast was also very pleasant and a bit unusual.

  • Older travelers

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Like the veranda outside the room and the breakfast was very nice.

Hotel badly needs some upgrades. Creaky doors, peeling paint. Bed was uncomfortable, and for the price, the room was far too small. TV was at least 10 years old and is unwatchable. Will not be returning anytime soon.

  • Couple

Service was exceptional! We arrived late and the kitchen re-opened so we could have a nice dinner without leaving the hotel. The front desk was incredibly helpful and arranged a later check out so we could go for a run and still come back and shower. The continental breakfast was great and much better than we have experienced at other hotels in the area. I have a food allergy and they were able to fill me up with no problem. The room was clean and beautiful. Really enjoyed our stay!

  • Older travelers

Good location for theaters and restaruants. Had a screened in porch/veranda Historic inn, room and the inn had a lot of character, Not your normal hotel! The location at the edge of the main downtown allowed for more quiet environment.

For our needs, the restaurant in the hotel was expensive. However they are top rated and if we were interested in fine dining that weekend, it would have been perfect.
